Distribution of benzimidazole-resistant strains of the onion gray-mold neck rot pathogens, Botrytis aclada and Botrytis allii, in Hokkaido, Japan

چکیده

Botrytis aclada and allii, associated with onion gray-mold neck rot isolated in Hokkaido, were tested for sensitivity to benzimidazole. Of the B. strains, 59% highly resistant remaining 41% sensitive; all strains of allii sensitive. Resistant widespread Hokkaido. We analyzed sequences β-tubulin gene detected replacement glutamic acid (GAG) by lysine (AAG) at codon 198. This is first report benzimidazole resistance aclada. study revealed a difference fungicide between two species.

The degradation of onion cell walls by extracellular enzymes of Botrytis allii and Sclerotium cepivorum [proceedings].

Botrytis allii and Sclerotium cepivorum, which respectively cause neck rot and white rot of onions, produce a range of cell-wall-degrading enzymes in onion tissue (Hancock et al., 1964; Beck, 1976). The two fungi have been grown on liquid media using purified onion cell walls, prepared by an adaptation of the method of Jarvis et al. (1977), as the sole carbon source for B. allii and the major c...

Morphological and Molecular Identification of Botrytis Cinerea Causal Agent of Gray Mold in Rose Greenhouses in Centeral Regions of Iran

Botrytis cinerea is an important pathogen that causes diseases in ornamental crops. In presentresearch several greenhouses of roses located in central region of Iran were surveyed toidentify the Botrytis cinerea. A total of 80 isolates were collected from rose greenhouses incentral region of Iran. Morphological identification was based on characters such asconidiophore and conidial length. Acco...

The ‘Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde fungus’: noble rot versus gray mold symptoms of Botrytis cinerea on grapes

Many cryptic species have recently been discovered in fungi, especially in fungal plant pathogens. Cryptic fungal species co-occurring in sympatry may occupy slightly different ecological niches, for example infecting the same crop plant but specialized on different organs or having different phenologies. Identifying cryptic species in fungal pathogens of crops and determining their ecological ...

Exploring mechanisms of resistance to respiratory inhibitors in field strains of Botrytis cinerea, the causal agent of gray mold.

Respiratory inhibitors are among the fungicides most widely used for disease control on crops. Most are strobilurins and carboxamides, inhibiting the cytochrome b of mitochondrial complex III and the succinate dehydrogenase of mitochondrial complex II, respectively. A few years after the approval of these inhibitors for use on grapevines, field isolates of Botrytis cinerea, the causal agent of ...

Metabolic Phenotype Characterization of Botrytis cinerea, the Causal Agent of Gray Mold

Botrytis cinerea, which causes gray mold, is an important pathogen in four important economic crops, tomato, tobacco, cucumber and strawberry, in China and worldwide. Metabolic phenomics data on B. cinerea isolates from these four crops were characterized and compared for 950 phenotypes with a BIOLOG Phenotype MicroArray (PM). The results showed that the metabolic fingerprints of the four B. ci...
